Integrating Fluoroquinolones into the Hospital Formulary

Educatee bacterial pathogens involved in cases of uncomplicated skin and skin body part pathologic process (SSSI) are staphylococcal (S. aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci) and streptococcal (groups A, B, C, and G) sp.
In complicated SSSI (infected somesthesia ulcers, diabetic foot infections), gram-negative enteric bacilli and anaerobes become significant. Ofloxacin is indicated only for governance of uncomplicated SSSI.
Due to the grandness of gram-negative aerobes and anaerobes in complicated SSSI, ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin are indicated in these infections.
Levofloxacin’s container artefact recommends 750 mg/day for 7-14 days to goody these infections. The 750-mg dose ensures good paper coition to optimize pharmaco-dynamic goals against gram-positive and -negative organisms.
